Signs You May Need a New Thermostat
- Your Thermostat is Unresponsive - When you adjust your thermostat and get no response whatsoever from your furnace or air conditioner it may mean your
thermostat needs replacing.
- Heat or A/C Does Not Turn On
- A wiring defect in the thermostat could prevent electrical signals from being sent to your heating/cooling system. Your thermostat could also be reading temperatures incorrectly and not turning on the heating/cooling when needed.
- A/C or Heat is Running Constantly
- The thermostat can be miscalibrated and is sending the wrong instructions to your HVAC system. The wiring may also be frayed or broken.
- Your Thermostat is Old - If your thermostat has not been updated to a digital one, it is likely it needs to be replaced. Modern thermostats are more reliable than older models.
- You Replaced Your Furnace or A/C Unit
- If you have updated (or plan to update) your furnace and/or A/C unit, you will also want to replace your thermostat so you have an upgraded model.
Benefits of Thermostat Replacement
- Lower Costs - A programmable thermostat allows you to reduce the heat in your home while you are away or sleeping. This can save you up to 15% on your energy bills.
- Automation - Old thermostats require manual changes to adjust the heat of your home. A programmable one allows you to automate the times at which your heat settings change. There is no need to go change the thermostat settings yourself after that.
- Extend the Life of Your Heat Pump - A new thermostat will help reduce the workload of your heat pump, especially during non-peak hours. This will reduce the wear and tear on your heat pump.
- Eco-Friendly - You will reduce your home's energy consumption. They do not use toxic chemicals such as mercury which is bad for the environment.
